This blog is dedicated to spotlighting select songs of independent or small-label artists. These songs can often (but not always) be characterized as pop music, encompassing its many sub-genres. However, none of these songs can be classified as “Top 40” (or any sub-genre thereof) typically heard on American radio and television. Proving that good, quality pop music is available…you just have to be willing to search for it or know where to find it. This blog takes away all of the work and leads the reader/listener straight to the discovery and enjoyment. The ultimate goal, of course, is to bring these “unknown” artists to the attention of the general public and give them well-deserved attention.

Song in the Spotlight: “Hello” (PictureHouse, from Papers in the Park – Evolution EP (2013))

Genre:  Alternative Pop

Review:  If you like your pop music soaring and emotional, then “Hello” is the song for you.  Wait…that description makes it sound almost tween-ish.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  While it’s accurate to say “Hello” is soaring and emotional, it would be a disservice not to say that it also has depth and meaning.  Eh, listen and decide for yourself.  A song is only as good as its ability to connect with the listener and TuneTraveller believes you will make a long-time connection with “Hello.”  Download it post haste and enjoy discovering that musical connection.  Rating: 4 stars (out of 5)
